Short Frenulum Surgery Center
Our center offers evaluation and advanced treatment of short lingual frenulum (ankyloglossia), a condition that can affect speech, nutrition, and general well-being. Using modern, rapid and minimally invasive surgical techniques, our specialized team ensures safe surgery, short recovery time and immediate improvement in tongue function.
Short lingual frenulum diagnosis has helped so many infants grow up healthy.
Over time, an untreated short frenulum can lead to problems with swallowing, chewing, speech, and, in school age or adulthood, can negatively affect the dental arch and posture.
Some simple self-assessments
Language mobility
Tongue mobility may be reduced, making breastfeeding difficult. The infant may have difficulty attaching well to mother’s breast, causing discomfort during sucking, rhagades, and possible infection.
Irregular feedings
The baby has long and frequent feedings because he/she CANNOT get enough milk, he/she BREAKS OFF OF THE BREAST A LOT and there is a “click” or pop while sucking.
Difficulty in sucking
If you stopped breastfeeding early using formula milk, the infant may still have difficulties such as popping while sucking, fatigue, and poor feeding.
The possible solutions
Frenulotomy: This is a quick, minimally invasive procedure that involves cutting the lingual frenulum (the small tissue under the tongue) when it is too short or stiff and restricts tongue movement. Sterile scissors are used.
Frenulectomy: This is a deeper surgery that involves the total removal of the frenulum, not just a cut. It is done when the frenulum is thick or has scarring. Laser is used.
