Internal Medicine is the specialty that deals with the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of adult patients affected by complex, multiple, and often chronic pathologies involving various internal organs and systems. The internist possesses a deep understanding of human pathophysiology and a comprehensive view of the organism, allowing them to diagnose and manage clinical pictures that are difficult to categorize, requiring the ability to integrate expertise from various specialized branches (cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, nephrology, etc.). Our Internal Medicine department is equipped to manage complex patients with decompensated chronic conditions (such as heart failure, respiratory failure due to COPD), advanced oncological conditions requiring palliative and supportive care, chronic kidney diseases (including dialysis management for hospitalized patients), infectious, metabolic, and autoimmune diseases. We utilize functional diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas analysis (ABG) to assess gas exchange and acid-base balance, and spirometry to study respiratory function. We provide all necessary supportive therapies (oxygen therapy, artificial nutrition, pain management) to ensure comprehensive and high-quality care for the patient during hospitalization.
